Outline of Experiment

  JAXA and NICT established the connection environment to V-CUBE (Internet video conferencing) and Cloud Computing Service through the "Kizuna" satellite communication line in “the satellite application demonstration experiment simulating the Great Nankai Trough Earthquake” carried out by Japan Medical Association.

  Also, HD image transmission through "Kizuna" satellite line connected from the Small-Vehicle Earth Station in a virtual stricken area and HD video conference was held between Japan Medical Association building and Aichi Medical Association building.

Result of Experiment

  “The satellite application demonstration experiment simulating the Great Nankai Trough Earthquake” was carried out by Japan Medical Association. The earth stations are installed at Japan Medical Association building, Aichi Medical Association building, virtual stricken area of Aichi and Hyogo Medical Association building. The effectiveness of information sharing through Kizuna communication line and ground communication lines among multipoint bases was verified.

  Also, NICT and JAXA jointly operated six earth stations including the Internet connection gateway, so that it was verified that multipoint earth stations of Kizuna are available at the time of large-scale disaster.

◆Information sharing by V-CUBE
  Internet environment using Kizuna communication line was established between Aichi Medical Association building, the virtual stricken area in Aichi, Hyogo Medical Association building and Kagawa Medical Association building, and was connected to V-CUBE which is presently used at Japan Medical Association and other prefectural Medical Associations building through ground communication lines.

  It was verified that Internet video conference for information sharing is useful effectively by multipoint connection among respective bases on the ground and Kizuna communication lines.

◆Sharing of Electronic Clinical Record and others by Cloud Computing Service
  Internet environment using Kizuna communication line was established between Aichi Medical Association building, the virtual stricken area in Aichi, Hyogo Medical Association building and Kagawa Medical Association building, and was connected to Cloud Computing Service (Cloud Type Medical Information System).

  It was verified that sharing of Electronic Clinical Record and others by Cloud Computing Service is useful effectively by multipoint connection among respective bases on the ground and Kizuna communication lines.

◆HD video transmission from virtual stricken area
  HD image of virtual stricken area and HD image taken while running on the roadway around virtual stricken area were transferred from the Small-Vehicle Earth Station at virtual stricken area of Aichi to Japan Medical Association building and Aichi Medical Association building by using Kizuna.

  At the time of disaster, it is possible to understand stricken area and road condition in that area in real time.

◆Information sharing by HD video conference
  Japan Medical Association building and Aichi Medical Association building were connected to Kizuna communication line, and information sharing was demonstrated for HD video conference.

  By broadband communication capability that is part of the feature of Kizuna, HD video conference among multipoint bases is available.
